    Felicia is a person who wears many hats! (pardon the pun). She is involved with cooking, baking, gardening, music and sewing. Her husband is a builder and wood-worker who is self-employed. They are both Afrikaans speaking and are originally from the Knysna area. Nowadays they reside in Plett, a coastal town of the Western Cape.

  • Lesley

    Lesley is a single mother with two sons and lives in Knysna, a town in the Western Cape. She started making patchwork hats from scrap fabric about 30 years ago but has evolved her work to include many different kinds of items over the years. As she has progressed through her career, she has developed a strong interest in skill-sharing and empowering people, especially women. This has resulted in her leading workshops in sewing to provide employment opportunities and nurture skill development.

  • Albertina

    Albertina is a single mother with two kids and two grandchildren. Her background is Xhosa and she is from Queenstown of the Eastern Cape. Nowadays she lives with her family in Soweto, a township outside of Johannesburg. She is currently retired but takes up some sewing projects and other jobs to provide for herself and her family. One of her current interests is in healing using medicinal plants local to her area.
